Samantha - the...Thank you for the lovely comments!<br /><br />Samantha - the blue silk parasol is an original frame that was recovered by Marta Vincent. Here's some more information about her work: http://www.originals-by-kay.com/samples_of_work/Exparasol.htm<br />Parasols are not overly tricky to recover, especially if the original frame still has parts of the original covering that can be used as a pattern. You'd want to make a mock-up first out of a fabric similar in weight to the silk that you will use to recover it to make sure that it fits properly. I've recovered parasols before, and it's a lot of fun. Original Parasol Frames can be found on Ebay, and also at antique shops sometimes.Lindseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12997514607291740440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1269572143374898969.post-60130370585621256982010-05-09T09:39:21.065-04:002010-05-09T09:39:21.065-04:00So slpendid! The small checked print silk dress with that 2 pointed bodice and box pleating is just simply stunning and even Miss Lane's dress is JUST as gorgeous with that wrapped bodice with a fantastic sheer of eye popping robin's egg blue and the dainty little lace trim just adds the character!! Great job on the dress, Linds! PS. is that the Wheatland House?? That's where Rob Skeel's been quite a few times and talks often of it, and how splendid it is inside!! That's where Pres. James Buchanan lived as well, right? I'm quite positive it is! Anyways, good job on that dress!!!Sewings and Goings; Love of Historic and Vintage Fashionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17306036720782958103noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1269572143374898969.post-74204107384281343842010-05-08T19:50:13.890-04:002010-05-08T19:50:13.890-04:00Aw, so beautiful.Aw, so beautiful.Melhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15800840688632113613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1269572143374898969.post-18269266524635553972010-05-08T18:30:11.908-04:002010-05-08T18:30:11.908-04:00very beautiful!very beautiful!FashionKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15912194250635672713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1269572143374898969.post-76269200766201293672010-05-08T17:48:03.625-04:002010-05-08T17:48:03.625-04:00Nice!Nice!Annette Bethkehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08498791479254104257noreply@blogger.com
