Regency Dress Sneak Peak

I just finished and shipped this lovely Regency Dress to a customer today and thought you would enjoy a sneak peak of how it turned out! My customer, Kathy, selected this beautiful sheer fabric which was hand block printed in India. The dress was based off of an original that she saw and photographed while on vacation in England. I draped the pattern for the dress.

The lining is fitted - the front darted, and made from white cotton. The dress closes with hooks and eyes and the skirt fastens to the dress at front with hooks and eyes.

Back of the bodice is gathered. Since we could not see what the back of the original being reproduced looked like, I searched until I found images of a another original that was very similar in style and this was the research for the treatment of the back of the bodice and skirt.

Wrist area hand gathered and sewn in place.

Hand gathered trim on bodice.

  4. A lovely dress! I bought similar fabric and plan to make a Regency dress out of it later this summer. It's nice to see what the scale of the print looks like sewn up before I get started!
