Wheatland Pictures

A few more pictures from the Wheatland tea that I've been meaning to post!

This week I'm doing a school program at a local Pittsburgh High School - a 2 hour class each day on Historical Fashions. I'm talking about clothing throughout history - and bringing in some reproductions for students to try on, Costume Design and other careers in the field and showing my portfolio, we're taking a field trip to a local museum to see their historical clothing collection and chat with their curator, and our big project is making Swiss Waists. Each of the students is making a Swiss Waist like those worn in the 1860s, except they're modifying them to look chic with modern clothing. All of their designs are really cute! I'll post pictures of the finished projects! On the last day we're finishing up the Swiss Waists while we watch a costume movie. I'm so excited to share my passion for historical clothing!

Above: I borrowed my mother's silk dress to wear. It's worn over my 98" circumference cage crinoline.

Look at this great original 1860s shawl that my mother purchased for a few dollars at a local auction! It looks perfect with this dress.
